Covid-19 Policy Details

An Update from The Saint Croix Sailing School!

The Saint Croix Sailing School is committed to the health and safety of all students, instructors, and our community during these unprecedented times. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Saint Croix Sailing School has made the decision to delay all sailing programs until July. All June sailing programs are henceforth suspended and all students currently registered will be offered alternative classes. Programming is set to resume on July 6th.  We are currently accepting registrations for our summer classes!

Some important things to note in our new policy include:

  • Students, parents, and members are required to sign waivers outlining the risk of being exposed to COVID-19, affirming they do not have symptoms, have not been in contact with a person infected with COVID-19 in the past 14 days, and agree to abide by our policies
  • Classes will be canceled in case of thunderstorm or other inclement weather. As SCSS cannot maintain safe social distancing in the spaces available, parents will be required to pick their children up. Attempts will be made to reschedule. Classes that are rescheduled will most likely be hosted on a Friday.
  • Sailors will be required to bring all their own supplies (life jacket, sunscreen, water, lunch if needed, and a face covering). These will all need to be labeled with the sailor’s name. If any family is struggling to provide these materials please contact the director.
  • Instructors, sailors, and other staff must wear face coverings while on shore. Sailors will be required to supply their own face covering.

This is only a brief summary of our new COVID-19 policies. These policies are subject to change as the situation demands and registered students will receive notices of any changes prior to their class. Our full policy and cleaning procedures are listed on our website.

Please reach out if you have any questions, and we thank you for choosing to sail with SCSS!

See you this summer!
