Here’s how the schedule works:

Regular class sessions.
There are eight regular sessions that each run for one week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Each of these regular class sessions is just $225 (see registration form if signing up for multiple weeks). Registering is as simple as selecting the week (or weeks) you would like to attend, and then fill out the sailing school application/registration form.

Racing camp.
A special racing camp will be offered June 25 – July 6. This camp is open to any young athlete but some experience, or completion of a regular SCSS class, is recommended. Sailors attending this camp will be coached in boathandling, boatspeed, and tactics plus will be introduced to the rules of racing. Those attending this camp will also participate in two TCYS regattas: TBA on Lake Minnetonka and June 29th on the St. Croix.

What type of boat will students be sailing?
We use two types of boats: Optimist dinghies and Club 420s. Though there is overlap between the boats, smaller, lighter kids tend to prefer the Opti’s and older, heavier kids tend to prefer the 420. When assessing the student, kids may be moved to a different boat if we think that will provide a better experience and better learning opportunity.

What level is my young sailor?
We try to organize classes with students of similar ability and experience. The information you provide on the Saint Croix Sailing School Application will help us plan our initial class groups but we will move students as necessary to ensure they are within groups that they find comfortable yet challenging.

Sign up for more than one week!
Many of our students return for successive weeks – it’s a great way to continue building skills and friendships. Students will advance as their comfort and skills allow. Discounts are available if you sign up for multiple weeks!

The Final Step!
Print the SCSS application form, read the waiver form, and mail the application with your payment.  Act early to get the weeks you want!
